DeSoto Council was founded on March 20, 1898. It is named after the famous Spanish explorer, Fernando DeSoto, who explored much of Southern North America (the Mississippi River area in 1541). Many of the early councils of the Knights of Columbus were named after explorers.
DeSoto Council #327 works closely with Sacred Heart Parish and the community of Hell’s Kitchen, providing support to local senior citizens, the youth of the community with our dedication to the Joseph Horvath Memorial Scholarship Fund, and many other neighborhood causes.
The DeSoto Council is located in the heart of New York City. The Council’s headquarters is located on Manhattan’s west side in a midtown community known as Clinton, which is affectionately known by many area residents as Hell’s Kitchen. The Council is conveniently located near Times Square and within walking distance of hundreds of fine restaurants, theatres, art galleries and other shops and tourist attractions.
